One of the attractions of the library of Islamia College
Peshawar is its manuscripts collection. They are very
historic, composed/printed thousands of years ago, and
are very rare. There are some of them which cannot be
found even in the libraries of the west/Europe.
The manuscripts are written on various subjects
including Chemistry, Physics, mathematics, Religion,
Astronomy etc.
The
oldest manuscript of the library is
“Kitab-ul-Aghani” written by “Abul Farah Ali
bin Hussain Asfahani” which is almost 1200 years
old. This manuscript has four chapters i.e
Biographies, Physics, Arabic grammar and poetry, written
in Arabic Language. This is the best example of Kashmiri
Art.
There
are total 1261 manuscripts which are written in
different languages on various subjects. Details are as
