The
core centre of the co-curricular activities of the students of the
College is the famous Khyber Union, which was inaugurated in 1921.
History of the College confirms that the Khyber Union, which was
basically a debating society, produced outstanding debaters and orators,
who brought universal fame and reputation to their alma mater. London
Khyber Union was a branch of the Khyber Union, Islamia College Peshawar,
which played an unforgettable role in Pakistan National Movement in
Thirties and Forties. On the list of the honorary life long members of
the Khyber Union, Islamia College Peshawar, the names are Sir Muhammad
Shafi, renowned leader of All India Muslim League from Lahore, Ralph
Griffith, the first British governor, NWFP, Khalida Adeeb Khanam, an
outstanding writer of Turkey, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the president of All
India Muslim League, Pundit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad,
George Cunningum, Governor NWFP, Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar, Khwaja Nazim
ud Din, Governor General of Pakistan, Muhammad Raza Shah Pehlvi of Iran,
Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt of USA, Sardar Abdur Rashid, chief Minister NWFP,
Qurban Ali Khan, Governor NWFP, Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, Chief Minister
NWFP, Mohtarma Miss Fatima Jinnah and Dr. A. Q. Khan,
distinguished nuclear scientist still inspire the young students of the
