Hostels
The College has 11 hostels,
all on its campus. Accommodation is limited and is provided to ht
students on first come first serve basis whereas in ABM Hostel
accommodation is provided to talented students on merit basis. Details
of rules and regulations are issued to the boarder students in the form
of a separate booklet.
Recreation Center
The university Recreation
Center is students' rendezvous. Food refreshments are served to the
students at very reasonable rtes. A committee appointed by the Vice
Chancellor supervises the functioning of the center and keeps a check on
the quality of material and services. Though, wearing the university
uniform while visiting the center is not compulsory, students are
expected to be decently dressed and to observe good behavior.
Medical Facilities
The university has a
hospital "Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai Hospital" on its campus manned
by one Medical Officer and three dispensers. The hospital is mainly run
by the Provincial Health Department.
Sports & Games
The historical Islamia
College Peshawar is among those few institutions of
the country, where a large number of sports facilities are provided to
the students for their mental and physical training.
Islamia College
participates in all the sports events of the BISE Peshawar and the
University of Peshawar that include cricket, hockey, football,
volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis, badminton, table tennis,
athletics and squash and has shown outstanding performance. University
has a gymnasium for indoor games and weight lifting equipment for all
students. Morning PT is compulsory for intermediate students boarding in
hostels.
Out sports history shows
that Islamia College has produced sportsmen and athletes of
international and national fame. Similarly we hold records in various
sports events of he University and the Board. Most of these records have
been bettered by Islamians.
The performance of the
Islamians in sports could be better judged from the fact that for the
past 15 years the Overall Championship Trophies at the University of
Peshawar and BISE Peshawar have been won by the Islamia College Peshawar.
